ABOUT

Matthew Green (he/him) is a New York City-based performer and director. Growing up in Northern New Jersey, he loved all things creative from performing, to arts and crafts, to cooking, baking, and more. He appeared on stage in his first show at age four as Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh and hasn't looked back since!

Taking to the stage every chance he could, he began performing with Paper Mill Playhouse's Children's Theater on Tour in fourth grade, a group he continued to perform with and intern for through his senior year of high school. He attended sleepaway camp where he would spend as many hours as humanly possible in the theater department– rehearsing, painting sets, running spotlight, making props, taking improv classes– anything he could do to soak it all up.

In his sophomore year of high school, Matthew began directing and choreographing in addition to performing. He co-founded First Floor Fairytale Productions, a youth theater organization dedicated to providing accessible theater to passionate young performers and mounted three fully realized productions with the organization. Additionally he directed and choreographed for Pebble Players Youth Theatre and The Summit Playhouse, leading productions such as Grease, High School Musical Jr., and Spring Awakening.

He pursued higher education at Temple University in Philadelphia where he received his BFA in Musical Theater. During his time at Temple, he appeared in productions with Temple Theaters, 11th Hour Theatre Company, and The Centre Theater, and served as a member of Temple Theater's marketing team for four years. He was fortunate to study abroad in Rome in his junior year, during which time he interned with The English Theatre of Rome. In his senior year, Matthew co-founded and served as Executive Producer of Temple University's premiere student-run musical theater organization, By You For You: A Student Musical Theatre Company (BYFY). He directed BYFY's inaugural production of Seussical in the fall and produced Godspell in the spring. He is now living and working in New York City, pursuing a variety of creative endeavors

Matthew is passionate about creating theater that connects people and has an impact, no matter how small.
